Wild Basin Lodge Fall Wedding - Allenspark, Colorado

Updated: May 8, 2020

I might be biased, but Colorado fall weddings are always some of my favorites. The mixture of green, yellow, and orange leaves with blue mountain skies makes for a serene backdrop. I was delighted to hear that Lauren and Daniel picked Wild Basin Lodge for their wedding venue, an adorable log cabin based in Allens Park, Colorado. The venue is nestled up against Rocky Mountain National Park, with a creek running through behind the ceremony site and mountains cloaked in fall colors creating the perfect setting.

The dual-military couple flew in for the week to celebrate their Jewish ceremony with family. Over the last few years, I've captured many Jewish weddings, but this one was unique. Each bridesmaid, groomsmen, and the parents of the bride and groom each had the honor of performing readings. The ceremony included a gorgeous chuppah (the canopy the couple and Rabbi stand under), a stunning Ketubah ( the Jewish marriage license). The moon even made a stunning appearance during the ceremony!

Due to the lengthy and detailed ceremony, I was surprised to learn that Lauren had converted to Judaism. She had found an interest in the religion, which sparked and developed into a love. She spent over a year learning the beliefs, customs, and traditions. Laurens's passion and commitment (as well as Daniel's) made the meaning of this ceremony and the traditions even more significant.

Congrats Lauren and Daniel! I'm so excited to see your future together!

If you're planning a wedding at Wild Basin Lodge here are some tips for you:

  1. Note that the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is right next door! You can schedule photos in the park into your day. Do keep in mind that photographers and videographers must have a permit to operate inside the park.

  2. It gets darker about 30 minutes earlier than you plan for. That's because the venue is nested in the middle of the mountain valley; the ceremony site is cast in the shadows of the mountains at sundown. Just keep that in mind when building your timeline.

  3. Fall is epic there! I highly recommend September or October dates. This is the perfect venue to get an entire group shot!

  4. After the ceremony we had the whole wedding join the wedding party at the base. It was the ideal setting for a group shot.
