Legacy High School Volley Ball Sports Action Photography
Updated: May 8, 2020
Photographing a High School Volleyball game was a step outside my usual realm of photography. However, when Grace's mom asked if I could capture the seniors on her team so they could make a few action posters, I said yes! I slapped my 70-200mm lens on my speedy Sony and tackled the new task. IT WAS A BLAST! I loved the energy from the girls, the teamwork, the dedication, and the amount of fun you could tell they were having! And HOLY SMOKES! Volleyball is a tough sport!
Capturing sports photography is an entirely different animal from weddings! It's quick-paced, unpredictable, and requires problem-solving, patience, right timing, fast gear, and even a bit of luck. The quick movement of the game makes it challenging to capture. I won't be moving my career from wedding and elopement photography to sports photography any time soon, but it was a fun change for the evening!
THESE GIRLS WERE FIERCE! As you can tell by the emotions that surge through the first set of pictures. I love the mixture of emotions, the athleticism, and energy in these pictures. They brought the heat, winning all three games in their match. You can tell that they had a blast while doing so. Great job, girls! I was very impressed.
Below are just a few of the pictures from the game (naturally I left a few funny ones in there!). After beating their competition, the senior girls joined me for a few group shots and individual portraits. Those images are included below as well.
Earlier here I took Grace's senior photos, you can see those pictures here.

Enjoy the photos!
