Arvada, Colorado Senior Photos at Standley Lake for Ralston Valley High School
Senior year is coming to an end, and I'm so excited for Ralston Valley Senior, Shannon. Shannon is a very talented young woman; she has been taking AP Photography, and has a real knack for it herself! I was excited to get to take her senior photos at Standley Lake. Shannon and her mom stuck it out through some terrible wind, but we had an epic sunset to end the photoshoot. Although Shannon is a talented young photographer, she is looking at pursuing an education in forensic psychology, which sounds cool! She does know I am biased and keep trying to steer her into the direction of photography, but she can always pursue it on the side! Congrats Shannon! I'm so excited about what your future holds!
This post is a little late but better late than never! We took these photos in the early fall of 2019 at Standley Lake in Arvada, Colorado. We chose this location due to its beauty, and it's close to Ralston Valley High School. As a portrait photographer, I love this location because of the variety of backgrounds, and you don't need to hike (unless you want to). Depending on the time of the year, it can be very colorful, or it can be beautifully golden. We took Shannon's photos; the park was in the golden phase. The first senior photo (above) has a fine art edit, with a textured background and added "jazz." This was a little extra add on for Shannon. Shannon had five retouched senior photos (although she's flawless and didn't need it) that are spread throughout the gallery. Retouching happens on closeup headshot type photos that are going to be used for yearbook photos and announcements. We went with a vibrant fun edit that changes with the background to match Shannon's upbeat and energetic personality. We had the opportunity to use a cinematic teal and orange aesthetic for a handful of the photos when the setting sunlight was crazy golden!
